First
Appointment for Our Adult Patients
Your first visit to our office will consist of a very thorough comprehensive
oral examination. Your exam will include a head and neck oral cancer
screening, a complete periodontal (gum) examination, a TMJ analysis,
a bite analysis, and a functional and cosmetic evaluation of your teeth.
With your consent, we will apply all suitable radiographs, intra-oral
photographs, computerized digital imaging and study models of your teeth
and jaws to recognize areas of concern, when necessary.
After your exam, Dr. Norman, Dr. Obeck or Dr. Foy will take unrushed time to
review the findings and explain what treatment options can return your
smile
back to health and beauty. The doctors will also be able to prescribe
what hygiene services are needed to assure a healthy foundation of the
gums and supporting bone. Various treatment methods will be available
to you, according to your needs, wants and priorities. With the knowledge
you will be able to make the best and most informed decisions that are
right for you.
For any areas of concern that fall outside our extensive training,
we work closely with the finest specialists well versed in all matters
of dentistry in the Richmond metro area. Based upon your needs, we will
suggest one of these specialists for you with the highest certainty
they will bestow you the same exceptional measure of care Drs. Norman, Obeck, Foy and our staff provide.
First Appointment for Our Younger Patients
We are a Family Practice for a reason - we love children. We also believe
good dental care begins at an early age and continues for a lifetime.
Like the American Dental Association recommends, we encourage children
first be seen around 3 years of age. Bringing your child at this age
with you to one of your routine hygiene appointments is a great way
to introduce them to our team. They can watch your appointment and we
will invite them to take a ride in the chair or let us count their teeth.
Of course when they are finished they must make a trip to the Treasure
Chest for being a big helper. Because we do not
force any treatment on children we are seen through their eyes as a
different type of doctor and we have created a great patient for life.
The dental needs of children and adolescents are also different than
adults. We focus extensively on their growth and development in determining
the proper timing if necessary for an orthodontic consult or evaluation
of their wisdom teeth. We offer preventive and conservative treatment
options such as sealants and fluoride treatments.
