Your
health and safety is our top concern, and we understand the importance
of feeling safe and comfortable. Therefore we implement the most
modern infection control techniques to maximize your safety.
These infection control procedures include:
- Wearing gloves, masks and protective eyewear.
- Washing hands before and after each treatment.
- Changing gloves after each patient.
- Sterilizing dental instruments after each use.
- Cleaning and disinfecting treatment room surfaces and equipment
after each patient.
- Disposing of needles and other sharp items in special containers.
- Disposing of waste items and contaminated material properly.
- Using sterile water in all treatment rooms.
- Disinfecting water lines daily, and using barrier techniques
to eliminate cross contamination.
Many of the safety measures we perform, like the use of gloves
and masks and our frequent hand washing, are visible to you
during your dental care visit. Other precautions, including
disinfection and sterilization, are completed prior to our
visit together.
Disinfection and Sterilization
We utilize numerous disinfection and sterilization techniques
to destroy bacteria and viruses. Our team is trained in the
appropriate use of these procedures to ensure their effectiveness.
We clean and sterilize all dental instruments through procedures
that eliminate viruses and other disease causing microscopic
organisms. Our instruments are sterilized in an autoclave using
steam under pressure, dry-heat and chemical vapors.
For equipment and surfaces that cannot be sterilized in our
autoclave, such as counter tops, drawer handles, X-ray unit
heads and light handles, we use vigorous disinfection methods
to ensure your ultimate safety.
We also use disposable items, like gloves, masks paper drapes,
needles and scalpel blades, when possible to maintain cleanliness.
These materials are disposed of properly in special containers
to control infection.
