Our practice performs comprehensive dentistry, based upon prevention
and health. We focus on taking care of your gum tissue and bone,
as well as your teeth.
As a new patient, we will provide you with a comprehensive examination
including a head and neck exam, an intra-oral cancer screening,
a TMJ examination and a dental examination, where we will look
at your tooth structure and existing restorations, making sure
the integrity is healthy. We also look at the supporting structure
of the teeth and the gums. This comprehensive examination takes
about 90 minutes, but every minute is time well spent. We believe
all patients want to keep their natural teeth for their entire
life.
We spotlight the fight against gum disease because it is a silent
killer of teeth, as well as the accomplice in other medical conditions.
Uncontrolled periodontal disease has been linked to heart disease,
premature birth and strokes. Patients who brush and floss
regularly can still have gum disease, which is why regular check-ups
are so important. With the advent of the latest technologies
and antibiotics, we have more options available to combat periodontal
disease in hopes of avoiding the need for gum surgery.
A healthy mouth requires good oral hygiene. We emphasize prevention
of dental disease through patient education and regular preventive
visits.
Teeth Cleaning
Depending on your oral health, we suggest seeing your dental
hygienist for a professional cleaning 2 to 4 times per year to
maintain healthy teeth and gums. Our hygienists are well trained,
highly skilled professionals well versed in treating all stages
of gum disease, from gingivitis to advanced periodontal
disease. We have placed great resources into our hygiene department
to solidify our basis of prevention being our foundation to optimal
dental health.
At Your Service
In our constant dedication to excellence, our hygiene department
only utilizes the state-of-the-art materials, technologies and
techniques. We use digital x-rays instead of traditional
x-rays, which emit 90% less radiation. To eliminate stains on
your teeth, we use gentle, yet effective methods such ultrasonic
instrumentation. We also manage you gum disease with medicated
rinsing solutions, and implement plaque
identification solutions to diagnose areas of concern accurately.
At Each Hygiene Visit
We will provide you with a comprehensive examination including
a head and neck exam, an intra-oral cancer screening, a TMJ examination
and a dental examination, where we will look at your tooth structure
and existing restorations, making sure the integrity is healthy.
We will discuss any cosmetic or functional concerns you may have,
and together will create a plan to reach your smile goals.
For Your Convenience
To continue excellent oral hygiene procedures at home, we recommend
the Rotadent toothbrush, which is available for purchase at our
office. We have also made professional mouth rinses available
to help preserve your periodontal health. After each visit, we
will send you home with a complimentary, quality Oral-B toothbrush
and floss. We anticipate your experience with our hygienists
to be comfortable, educational and complete.
Additional Hygiene Services
Dental Sealants
A sticky film plaque causing bacteria covers your teeth, producing
acids that attack your enamel. Although careful brushing and
flossing can remove most of this film, your teeth’s chewing
surfaces can have deep fissures and areas where plaque can hide
and create cavities. Dental sealants, an inexpensive, simple
and speedy procedure, can prevent these cavities and protect
the health of your teeth.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride treatments is the next best prevention method of tooth
decay. Fluoride remineralizes and strengthens the tooth enamel,
which makes it more difficult for bacteria to cause cavities.
We offer both take-home and in-office treatments for your convenience.
Nightguards
Nighttime clenching and grinding is an unconscious, involuntary
habit that is hard to break. Preventing this habit from continuing
is imperative for maintaining excellent short- and long-term
oral health. A nightguard, a custom-made clear plastic mouthguard
worn during sleep, is the most effective method of clenching
and grinding prevention. Your teeth will harmlessly grind on
hard acrylic rather than your other teeth, preserving the surfaces
of your teeth and bite position.
